A bed and breakfast and its website

Since the last rebounce of the website in the SERPs
at the beginning of the month, nothing significant
among the 3 or 4 booking demands I had since, neither
the website has been visited a lot.
BUT that day of rebounce, a guy phoned (nearly imposs-
ible to stop him speaking) during a quarter of an hour
trying to tell me that I had won .... in a lottery, a digital
camera. As I am a curious person I listened with patience.
In fact I don't need one.
He asked strange questions at the end (age, size of living
room !) and said, I would receive a letter, and then could
come to pick up the camera. Didn't receive any letter BUT
another phone call from another voice concerning the win,
and that some cutlery is as well included and that a letter
would come this week. That voice, I already had heard it,
and I believe to know perhaps, where that guy is hidden.

Around October 12th the website dropped again some places
and since the site frequentation drops to nearly nothing.
Strange, that 100% of the searches I saw in my raw logs the
last three days were searches, where the "potential"
customer searched the name of our B&B, and of course
found the website this way. The IP's I checked were 3 times
in GB and one time in US-VA.
Our house must be known very well all over the planet -
that should make me happy, isn't it !
Especially in US-VA, where recently somebody found our
website entering "bed and breakfast for sale". He must really
have SEARCHED us, as the site should not appear before
page 1462 in the SERPs.

Yes, and then as usual those "fitting" spam mails. This time
somebody from a chinese IP-adress writes about the
"income university". Nice to know that somebody from so far
is worried about my finances, too. Or he does it for somebody
else perhaps... ? ... because his finances are not so well.
The world is full of strange (or worse?) people.

Coming back to the weather : it is famous this October. Many
sunny days, even if the temperatures go down actually.

Light at the end of the tunnel ?

Yesterday, Saturday October 3rd, was the first day after
the summer really announcing the coming cold season.
Gray light all day, but lukewarm, providing some melancholy
mood.
But, incredible, the website brought two of four demands
I had altogether, during the two last weeks, for my rooms. A
couple of years ago I had no problem to well fill the rooms in
October, this year it is near to "fully" empty.
Tonight my guests all came back after 2 o'clock in the
morning, for various resasons, and were (unexpectedly) up
rather early in the morning bringing some need of hurry (I
hope my English is not as bad to appear ridiculous).
Have for this night a very friendly (smiling, dynamic) couple
from England. Rare. Could find out (with difficulty from her),
that they were born in the Thirties of the last Century.
Sunday was rainy and some very quiet days/weeks/months,
room occupation concerning will come now.

Spent a bad night due to endless website ranking trouble I have since March. This morning, the website was AGAIN on the first page. It is like on a roller coaster. I am doubtfully on how that will continue.
I already had that several times during the last months. In August, after a reconsideration request, the website was back in the SERPs, for about 10 days, then it went down suddenly. After a reclamation this concerning, it came back again for nearly 3 weeks beginning September, but with the astonishing effect, that the site frequentation fell to a third or half of what it was, when it couldn't be found on the first pages. Later on my webhoster admitted, that right at that moment they had a bug in their rawlog system. Hmmm. Then it fell again from page 1 to page 3 and then it was unfindable. Not good for health, all that stress.
I insist on being very interested to have feedback about content, facility of use and presentation
of this old-styled website. That would help me to decide about a re-writing of the whole.

Let me begin with the major events of today : Going into my emails this morning, I find a french message in the spam, which promotes fire-work services. My website (English version) in May had dropped, for the first time since 2000, so deep in the search results, that it was nearly unfindable.
And in May, that same day, I had received exactly that kind of message : firework promotion. Already in May, hit with paranoaia (and already very experienced with this kind of "feedback" ;-)), I thought, there is a relationship between the two things. So today I tried out, where my website is positioned actually : and indeed, same thing as in May - unfindable.
My website all over the years has been positioned on the first page for certain searches, or even among the first or was the first - bringing me a lot of customers.

All what happened beside, during all these year, I will let it know in the next posts.
